Actichem Defender WB is a premium water-based penetrating sealer formulated to provide long-lasting protection to porous concrete, masonry, sandstone, cement and clay-based construction products. Its penetrating technology absorbs into the substrate to create powerful water repellency while maintaining the natural appearance of the treated surface.

Unlike film-forming surface coatings, Defender WB is designed to penetrate into the porous material while remaining vapour permeable. This allows moisture vapour to escape while helping reduce the penetration of water and water-borne contaminants. The treatment also helps protect against efflorescence, salt-ion ingress, weathering, staining, mould and mildew, supporting longer-term surface durability.

🏗️ Suitable Surface Applications

Defender WB is designed for medium- to high-porosity construction materials, including engineered and structural concrete, precast concrete, sandstone, bluestone, cement and clay pavers, terracotta, Saltillo and quarry products, mortar, grout and masonry.

It is particularly useful for pool surrounds, heritage stone, exterior masonry, concrete structures, paving and other porous construction surfaces where protection against moisture and salt attack is required.

📐 Coverage

Coverage depends heavily on the porosity of the substrate. Typical coverage is approximately 5–15 m²/L per coat on highly porous, open-structure surfaces and 20–30 m²/L per coat on denser substrates. Subsequent coats generally cover a larger area as the substrate becomes sealed.

🛠️ Professional Application

The surface must be clean, completely dry and free from chemical residues before application. Defender WB is supplied ready to use and can be applied by roller, sprayer or suitable applicator. Actichem recommends applying 1–3 coats, generously saturating the surface, then removing excess sealer after approximately 10 minutes. Allow around 20 minutes between coats, keep traffic off for 6 hours and keep the surface dry for 24 hours. Full curing occurs within approximately 24–48 hours.

Important: Always pre-test an inconspicuous area before full application. New installations must be adequately cured before sealing, and existing surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and dry.
